About Us:
Appalachian Hope (formerly the Women’s Center of Mercer County)
Appalachian Hope, formerly the Women’s Center of Mercer County, stands as a beacon of strength and resilience for women in Mercer County, West Virginia. We are committed to providing a safe, short-term shelter and essential resources for women escaping domestic violence.
Our Vision: A Place of Hope and Healing
We envision a community where women experiencing domestic violence have access to the support and resources they need to rebuild their lives. We are dedicated to empowering, protecting, and uplifting these women, working alongside our community partners to create a place of hope and healing.
Building a Brighter Future: Our Shelter Project
Thanks in part to a generous grant from the Mercer County Commission, in 2024 we purchased a building in Bluefield, WV. We are currently working diligently on renovations, with the goal of opening our doors to women in need in early 2026. This shelter will provide a safe haven and critical support services for women in crisis.
